Halstead: Experts unable to determine cause of pensioner's death
1:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
Experts have been unable to determine the cause of death of a Halstead pensioner due to decomposition.
The inquest into the death of Shirley Bragg, 89, was opened and adjourned last month with a further hearing expected to be held in the coming months.
Police officers found the body of the former Braintree College librarian at her home in Trinity Terrace, Halstead, where she lived with her son, on July 9.
Concerns had been raised for their welfare as it appeared they were not coping.
The inquest at County Hall in Chelmsford was told that Mrs Bragg was last seen her GP in 2009 after a concern was raised about the property.
Essex Police had also appealed for help in trying to find out when the former Holy Trinity Primary School governor had last been seen alive.
The death is not being treated as suspicious but a 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of preventing lawful burial.
He is due to answer bail next week.
