Halstead: Determined dad set to finish 500 mile bike ride for Maisie
2:57pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
A determined dad has started his 500 mile cycle ride to support the Essex Air Ambulance which saved his daughter’s life.
David Moon, 35, set off from the Earls Colne air ambulance base on Saturday morning with friends Chris Mc Glasham and Justin Gavin Jones to cycle through France, Belgium and the Netherlands before returning home.
In September last year, David’s daughter Maisie, now two, was hurt in a serious collision between her dad’s car and a lorry in Coggeshall Road, Earls Colne, and was airlifted to The Royal London Hospital.
She spent time in intensive care and was allowed home weeks later, but the family will not know the full extent any long-term injuries until Maisie reaches her teens.
So far they have raised more than £3,000 which will be split between the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, The Sick Children's Trust, the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit which is part of the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust and The Police Firearms Officers Association (PFOA).
