Halstead: Lorries could come through town to access substation site
9:00am Sunday 1st September 2013 in News
Lorries could be travelling through Halstead town centre on their way to a substation site when construction work on the site begins.
National Grid has selected a two-and-a-half acre site on the A131, between Wickham St Paul and Twinstead, as its preferred location for a new electricity substation.
It could cause traffic disruption for Halstead during the anticipated year-long building process.
A National Grid spokesman said: “We are in discussion with the local authorities about traffic routes for construction vehicles.
“Halstead is one of the routes, but nothing has been set yet - it is one of the options.
“When we go out to formal consultation we will be producing a traffic plan.”
