Halstead: Homes plan set to get green light
4:00pm Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
Eight new homes are set to be built in Halstead after revised plans were recommended for approval.
Developers had initially hoped to get planning permission for nine houses on land in Stanstead Road, but scaled back proposals after Essex County Council highways expressed concerns it could lead to more cars parked in the residential street.
The blueprint now put forward by A R Clarke Builders is for an eight-house, two and a half storey terrace, which includes attached garages.
The homes would include seven two-beds and one three-bed.
Four objections to the application were made, with concerns raised that the design was not in keeping with the area, the homes would be too close to houses in neighbouring Brewster Close, on street parking would increase and the plans could set a precedent for similarly tall buildings nearby which would overlook existing homes.
But Braintree Council planning officers have recommended the plans are approved, subject to various conditions, ahead of a planning committee meeting scheduled for tonight.
