Construction of a new £10million food waste-fuelled power plant could begin by the end of the year.

The proposed facility, due to be built on land north of Halstead’s Bluebridge Industrial Estate, will enable food waste to be processed to generate electricity for use by nearby businesses and exportation to the National Grid.

Residents are worried about the impact an increase in HGV movements would have on the town’s roads.
