A family have criticised a housing association after being left without heating and hot water during a cold snap.

The Ives family of Manors Green, Halstead, reported her broken heating to Swan Housing on March 8.

An engineer arrived the same day but said he would have to order parts which would not available until the following week. The family of six were without heating for six days and without hot water for four days.

A spokesman for Swan Housing said: “Swan’s repairs contractor, Axis, was contacted on Friday and visited the same evening.

“A further visit was made on Saturday and temporary electric heaters were supplied as new parts were required to fix the boiler.

“The replacement parts were fitted Thursday, March 14.”
