Halstead: Police warn businesses after shop confusion theft
Police have released CCTV images of a man accused of confusing a shopworker out of £100.
The man is alleged to have walked into the Co-op store in High Street, Earls Colne, and confused the cashier by offering large denomination notes in exchange for smaller denomination notes and coins.
He walked away with £100 profit.
The man is described as Asian, aged in his late 20s to 30s, with a moustache or goaty beard and long side burns.
Police are warning other shopkeepers to be aware of this practice.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact PC Max Ansell at Witham neighbourhood crime team on 101.
