Victims of a prolific burglar say they are glad he is behind bars.

Nicholas Gallagher of Holmes Road, Halstead, was sentenced to three years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court.

He was arrested after police matched his DNA to blood found at the scene of a burglary at Billson Opticians, in Halstead High Street, and a house in Stoke-by-Clare, Suffolk.

Gallagher, 41, admitted five burglaries and asked the court to take 34 similar offences into consideration.
