Broken street lights have left residents in the dark for seven weeks.

Eight roads on the Hawkwood estate in Sible Hedingham have been affected since January 20.

UK Power Networks said it was not notified until February 26 and was due to repair an underground cable by the end of last week.

But David Finch, Essex County Council's cabinet member for transport, said the council’s street lighting team told the power company on January 30 there was a problem.
