Halstead: Concerns raised about Premdor housing plan
9:00am Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
The Premdor factory
Countryside campaigners claim plans to redevelop a factory site with housing are unsustainable.
The Campaign to Protect Rural Essex (CPRE) said developer Bloor Homes had not included enough employment, shops, support for local schools and recreation areas and public transport in its plans to regenerate the former Premdor factory in Sible Hedingham.
Bloor Homes wants to build 194 homes, a play area, an employment hub, improvements to the Hedingham Station marsh wildlife site and extensions to the Hedingham river walk.
Pedestrian links across Swan Street and Station Road will link up with the bus stops and village shops and land has been earmarked for a surgery.
Braintree Council will decide on the application at a later date.
