Halstead: Great gran thanks bus driver for making a detour Halstead: Great gran thanks bus driver for making a detour

A great-granmother wants to thank a bus driver who made a detour after she ended up in Sudbury.

Hilda Wooding, 90, of Church Street, Great Maplestead, caught the bus from Halstead but instead of arriving home ended up in the other town.

She knows Sudbury well and so was not worried and waited with for another bus to take her home.

The bus driver recognised her and asked the other two passengers on the bus, last Tuesday, if they would mind making a small detour.

Mrs Wooding said: “It didn’t worry me as years ago my husband used to take me shopping there so it was a nice memory.

“I would like to thank the driver and the couple on the bus for allowing him to do it.

“He was very kind.

“I am very grateful.

“He was supposed to be driving not looking after silly old woman.”
