More than one in five children in a Halstead neighbourhood are still living below the breadline.

Figures released this week show that 22 per cent of children in the Halstead Trinity ward are living in poverty, compared to the district-wide average of 16 per cent.

The situation in Halstead Trinity has barely improved since July 2011, when the Gazette reported 23 per cent of youngsters were missing out on essentials.
