Halstead: Fears substation would block out castle and cause traffic chaos

A huge electricity substation would block out Hedingham Castle, ruin the countryside and cause traffic chaos, campaigners claim.
Massive pieces of electrical kit would have to be driven through Halstead if plans for a new substation on the A131 Sudbury Road are given the go ahead.
The project would take a year and the weight of the equipment would mean junctions would have to be improved to cope, which residents fear would cause traffic chaos.
