The varied life and works of a prolific artist are being showcased at a major exhibition to celebrate her 70th birthday.

Georgie Roy is hosting the 70 Celebrates 70 exhibition at Braintree District Museum and Braintree Library.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a 28ft long collage, with seven panels each dedicated to a decade of the artist’s life.

Other pieces on display include conventional paintings of familiar sites, mosaics using envelopes, and mannequins including Iris with a Virus.

Georgie, of Halstead Road, Gosfield, said: “Whatever I see, my brain sends my hands to what I have to use. Everybody says ‘why don’t you work in one medium?’ but I can’t.

“Jean Grice used to run the town hall and she called me a one woman art exhibition.”

Georgie will be hosting a series of workshops for adults and children during the exhibition, which runs until March 12.
