Great Braxted: Men arrested after dog comes out of moving car window Great Braxted: Men arrested after dog comes out of moving car window

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of theft and animal cruelty, after a dog came out of a moving car window.

Police were alerted to a white Vauxhall Astra van travelling along the A12 near Great Braxted from the Suffolk area yesterday afternoon.

As the van was moving, a female Springer Spaniel was seen to come out of the window.

She was recovered by police, relatively unharmed, and was checked over vets.

Thanks to being microchipped, her owners were located in Bury St Edmunds.

The van was stopped by police and game birds were recovered from inside.

An 18-year-old from Pitsea and a 16-year-old from Wickford were arrested on suspicion of theft, causing unnecessary animal cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act and killing game out of season.

They were questioned and released on police bail until April 10.

I believe that's these two are the people that have taken my dog the van was seen outside my house and around where I live. My two children are in pieces about my dog being taken and we will do anything to get her back :(

Livvy. I hope you do get your dog back. How did they manage to take her? I would be devastated to have my dog taken from me.

Is this the same white Vauxhall Astra van that has been posted on Facebook as being linked to a number of dog thefts in the area, particularly Maldon, Latchingdon, Burnham and across the Dengie Peninsular? There are many families who are missing their treasured pets, I hope the Police can piece this all together. I am finding it hard not to jump to conclusions about the 'origins' of this pair given where they are from.

Please ring the police if you haven't already done so. We have all been alerted to this van via Facebook and it matches the description. I really hope you get your dog back. I have a rescue lurcher and I am terrified she will go missing at the moment. Thinking of you and hoping for a happy outcome xxx
