A village pub that residents campaigned to keep save is to re-open.

The Bull in Blackmore End, Wethersfield, closed in October 2010 and more than 700 people opposed a planning application to convert it into a house.

Braintree Council turned down the application and villagers Belinda and Colin Coleman have now acquired the pub.

The couple have set up a project team with other residents and are working on restoring the Grade II listed building.

Planning applications have been made to replace dilapidated buildings at back with a new extension, replace the bar and fit new windows.

Good luck, but what do the new owners think has changed about the public house market in the past 2 years to suddenly make this a viable opportunity?!
