Halstead: First chance to see spring snowdrops Halstead: First chance to see spring snowdrops

Visitors caught a glance of spring as the first snowdrops of the year were on show at Hedingham Castle.

The castle and gardens held the first of three Snowdrop Sundays at the weekend, allowing guests to roam the picturesque grounds of the site.

There was an early sprinkling of white across the grounds, but more snowdrops will be on show as the month progresses.

The castle’s winter gardens contain 13 varieties of snowdrops covering the steep slopes and setting off the trees and lakes in front of the Georgian mansion house.

Snowdrop Sundays continue for the next two weeks at Hedingham Castle, in Bayley Street, Castle Hedingham, from 11am to 4pm.

Entry is £7.50 for adults, £5 for children or £19 for a family ticket. Admission includes a complimentary glass of mulled wine or a bowl of soup.
