Halstead: Jail for tree con fall guy
A man found guilty of conning investors out of more than £200,000 was the “fall guy” for a larger criminal gang.
Michael Murphy, 46, was jailed for two years and four months for defrauding investors by getting them to buy trees in India.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard Murphy, of York Road, Earls Colne was installed as managing director for TNT Bio Fuels as a “Patsy” or “Fall Guy” for a larger criminal organisation.
