Halstead: Fireman's burning proposal

Love was burning brightly when a firefighter got up a ladder to propose to his fiancee.

Gareth Wilson roped in his colleagues at Halstead Fire Station to drive two engines to the home he shares with Lisa Welham, a teaching assistant at Honywood Community Science School in Coggeshall.

He then used a ladder to climb up to the bedroom window, where he pulled an engagement ring out of his pocket and dropped the visor of his helmet, which had the words Marry Me written across it.

Good grief!

I have a feeling that this is going to run and run.

Misuse of Fire Brigade Resources for personal and sentimental reasons?

No wonder they can’t rescue moggies stuck up trees any more - unless of course you can cough up the odd 400 quid to pay for it.

Whatever next?

Prince William flying a multi-million pound RAF Chinook helicopter to his cousin's Isle of Wight stag do perhaps?

Surely not - my imagination must have gone completely haywire!

So the firemen took time out of their busy normal schedule of sitting around playing pool and eating fry-ups to carry out this stunt?

Or maybe they spend so long dealing with disaster and and seeing horrific tragedies that the average tesco worker or benefit claimer wouldent see in there worst nightmare, that they take advantage or a good thing once for one of there fellow collegues! Yes how terrible!!! (Duh) how dare they!
