Halstead: Cars stopped gritter getting to primary school Halstead: Cars stopped gritter getting to primary school

Children had to negotiate icy roads because a gritter could not get to their school due to parked cars.

Butler Road in Halstead, one the entrances to Holy Trinity Primary School, was missed out by Essex County Council Highways Gritters on Monday.

Jon Smith, head of Holy Trinity Primary School said: “It is worrying as lots of our pupils come in that way and the ground is slippery.

“I think one issue is that there is limited car parking for local residents.

“The other is that many pupils do not live within walking distance and have to be brought to school by car."

Erm, Mr Smith you can't seriously be suggesting that residents of Butler Road shouldn't park outside their own homes?
