ROUND the table talks have been held to get a major trunk road upgraded in a bid to regenerate North Essex.

Minister for Roads Stephen Hammond was this week given a tour of Harwich International Port.

While there, he met Essex County Council leader Peter Martin and representatives from Colchester, Tendring and Braintree councils, along with Haven Gateway Partnership chairman George Kieffer.

The council bosses urged the Conservative minister to designate the A120 from Braintree to Harwich as a core network - classing it as a key link between counties.

If approved the move could see cash from the European Union to upgrade the road and it could also bring regeneration for towns and districts along the route.

Peter Halliday, leader of Tendring Council, said: “The benefits from that could be from a slice of the EU’s £27billion funds to improve the road and its junctions.

“The upgrade could also be key to regeneration to Harwich, Tendring and greater Essex.”

In other words, build more roads, then in turn build more houses, increase traffic then have to buid more roads, then in turn build more houses...and in the background are the people in Braintree slowly watching their green areas slowly swallowed up!!!!

The roads are perfect in this country, the problem is the amount of people in the country, we are a struggling sinking Island! Helllllllp !!!

I could not agree more with Keep Essex Green's comments,; we are under threat from so much development in North Essex, that we are in danger of losing the Rural nature of this part of England for ever.

STOP IMMIGRATION NOW, and START DEPORTING ILLEGALS!! That alone will have a massive impact on the need for housing, roads, Health services, Education etc. We nned to go into negative growth of population here, as has happened in Germany, which will automatically ease the pressure on all the above services, negating the need for ANY more Greenfield loss to developers.

Let's get it sorted out before it's too late....PLEASE!!

Sorry guys, but I see this as a chance to upgrade the standard of the A120 to enable more efficient thro-put of traffic from the East of the region to the West. I don't see how this will mean more house building.

For "regeneration", read "housing development".

Have a look at the website for the proposed West Tey/Temple Border development, (link below), and see if you still think there'll be no housing built!! (They propose 10,000+ initially!!!).

and agree that it does show significant house-building in both Braintree and Marks Tey along with a major diversion of the A120 from its current route, BUT,
I don't see the West Key Consortium of local(?) landowners being mentioned in this report.
All very confusing.
I await more info

if the owbers of land at horsley cross wants planning make them pay for the dualing from horsley to colchester, it will benefit them,

or the A120 should become a toll road
