Highways bosses have opposed Tesco’s plans for a supermarket off a busy high street, claiming the road layout was dangerous for drivers and pedestrians.
The retail giant was accused of ignoring advice given before it submitted plans for a store in The Centre, off Halstead High Street.
In a letter to Braintree Council, Keith Lawson, executive director for environment, sustainability and highways at Essex County Council, said: “It appears from information submitted with the planning application that much of the work previously identified in correspondence between the highway authority and Braintree Council and in pre-application discussion with the applicant has not been addressed.”
