Braintree district: Arrested Indian restaurant workers still in the UK
Two Indian restaurant workers remain in the UK a month after immigration officers arrested them.
The two men, aged 22 and 39, were arrested in a raid on Lakeview Indian Restaurant, in Church Road, Gosfield, on December 4.
UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers, acting on intelligence, discovered the two members of staff were immigration offenders from Bangladesh.
The 22-year-old was found to be working in breach of his visa conditions, and the 39-year-old had overstayed his visa.
A UKBA spokesman said: “The two men arrested at Lakeview Indian Restaurant remain in the UK while their cases are worked on.
“The UK Border Agency works hard to track down immigration offenders and return them to their home countries.”

I wonder how much did they pay whilst legally working and covered by their visas? That might be something interesting to know about (and this is not reflective of my opinion regarding the woman and child whose partner was not allowed to join her because she was unable to earn eighteen grand etc. etc. ad nauseum). Still, if these guys were working and sustaining themselves, they also were paying into the system without draining the system. Seems like this is all arm-holes to breakfast time: there seems an inordinate number of "moochers" allowed to stay whilst those in need or actually contributing are refused and hounded.
