THE A1124 has claimed more lives than any other road in the Halstead area, according to crash map figures.
An online map, using Department for Transport data, shows there were 14 fatal collisions in the area between 2005 and 2011- five of which were on the A1124.
The year 2007 saw the highest number of deaths in the area with four, while there were three in 2005, two in 2006, 2008, 2010 and one in 2011.
There were none in 2009.
Five of the fatal collisions involved motorcycles, two involved cyclists and two involved children.
Three of the fatal collisions were along the stretch of the A1124 which runs between Halstead and Sible Hedingham.
Town councillor Andy Munday, of Ashlong Grove, co-ordinates speedwatch in the town.
He said: “It does need to be addressed but I am not sure how or the detail.
