Halstead: Work to start on gas mains replacement Halstead: Work to start on gas mains replacement

Work will starts on Monday on a three-month project to replace 400 metres of gas mains.

Existing iron mains in White Colne will be replaced by long-lasting plastic pipes which should last until the end of the century.

National Grid has pledged to work closely with Essex County Council to minimise traffic disruption during the work, which is expected to last until March 31.

Colne Park Road, between numbers two and ten, will be closed for four weeks, with a diversion around the village green.

There will also be two-way temporary traffic lights operating 24 hours a day along Colchester Road.

National Grid project manager Kevin Pettit said: “Our work in Colchester Road is essential to help secure gas supplies for the people of White Colne. We will do this work in a safe manner as quickly as possible.”
