Halstead: Building starts on affordable housing development
Building work has begun to create eight affordable homes on the former site of an underused housing scheme.
Contractor Gipping Construction started work on the eight homes in Park Court, Sible Hedingham, on Wednesday.
Park Court had previously been the site of Greenfields Community Housing’s older persons’ scheme prior to its closure in 2009.
It was closed following a review by Greenfields, when 13 of the 17 flats were empty despite heavy advertising.
In partnership with Braintree Council, Greenfields identified the need for affordable housing in Sible Hedingham, and agreed on the Park Court site after consultation with residents and politicians.
