A cancer patient who complained of a series of blunders by the health service has died.

Simon Bailey, 43, died on Saturday, four months after he was diagnosed with aggressive terminal cancer.

He had been diagnosed with lung cancer in August, which spread to his bowel.

Wife Diane, formerly of Cherry Tree Close, Halstead, claimed her husband was starved for more than two weeks while he was in Colchester General Hospital’s Mersea ward.

A spokesman for Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust said they had not received an official complaint from Mrs Bailey and encouraged her to contact the hospital if she has concerns.
