Country house has 'wow' factor

Hedingham Castle's Georgian country house certainly has the "wow" factor according to millions of channel five viewers.

In I Own Britain's Best Home, the public voted Jason and Demetra Lindsay's house in the castle grounds seventh out of 24 properties in the country.

In the series, Charlie Luxton, architectural designer, spent 24 hours there as a guest, falling in love with the house, built in 1720, and its setting.

Stephen Taylor Woodrow, series producer, said: "It certainly had a 'wow' factor."

The couple inherited Hedingham Castle from The Hon Thomas Lindsay, but they are the first family to live in the home since 1903.

Mrs Lindsay, an architect, has furnished many rooms with silk sourced from Warners Mill, Braintree.

Mr Lindsay said: "We're bringing the house back to its former glory."
