Star Wars actor John Boyega, up for the Bafta EE Rising Star award, told Zoe Ball he went to Waitrose on Sunday morning, bought a Belgian bun and was not recognised or bothered by members of the public.

Speaking on the red carpet ahead of the Bafta Film Awards, taking place at London’s Royal Opera House, the 23-year-old also revealed that he starts work on Star Wars: Episode VIII at 6am on February 15.

John, whose work in The Force Awakens made him an international star, features in the only award voted for by the public.

He will battle it out with Kingsman: The Secret Service’s Taron Egerton and Fifty Shades Of Grey’s Dakota Johnson.

Golden Globe winner Brie Larson, who also received a Screen Actors Guild award for her role in Room, and Londoner Bel Powley, who starred in The Diary Of A Teenage Girl, round off the nominees vying to be voted the next major star of the future.

John, who played Finn in the space opera blockbuster, said he is hoping multi award-winner John Williams wins for his Star Wars score.
