George Clooney has declared that married life "feels pretty damn great".

The Oscar winner tied the knot with British barrister Amal Alamuddin in Venice at the weekend in a ceremony attended by numerous A-list names.

In an interview and photos published by Hello! magazine, the couple have shared the private ceremony at the luxury Aman Canal Grande hotel.

Family and friends flocked in from more than 30 countries, many with tears in their eyes, and applauded after the couple exchanged vows and platinum wedding rings during the 30-minute ceremony.

Afterwards George said: "My verdict on being Mr and Mrs Clooney? It feels pretty damn great."

Amal wore a custom-made, French lace Oscar de la Renta dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves, embroidered with pearls and diamante.

George was dressed in a black tuxedo created by his friend Giorgio Armani as part of his Made To Measure collection.

The star teamed it with a white shirt, black bow tie and black leather Oxford shoes. In its 40-page coverage the magazine reveals that he wore cufflinks which were a gift from his bride with "George" inscribed in Arabic.

Guests at the lavish reception included Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Bono and George's best friend Rande Gerber with his wife Cindy Crawford.

The wedding features in the new edition of Hello! which is on sale tomorrow. People magazine has covered the wedding in the US.

The eyes of the world were on the couple who appeared happy to share their joy with well-wishers lining the canals of Venice to catch a view of the stars in their midst.
