COMEDY lovers will barely be able to catch their breath this weekend, with not one but two evenings of riotous humour on offer.

The common denominator is resident funny man Dave Rothnie whose packed schedule this week will see him MC the latest instalment of his monthly Stand-up at the Seaside show at The Station in Colwyn Bay on Sarturday night, 24 hours after after heading up a comedy special with some of the UK's best at Colwyn Bay Football Club.

Joining Rothnie at the football club will be the cheerfully cynical gag master and storyteller Will Duggan and Scott Bennett, who will add Colwyn Bay to his CV along with stints writing for Jason Manford and supporting Rob Brydon and Michael McIntyre.

Rothnie said: "Scott is one of the rising stars of the UK comedy circuit, and it's a real treat that he's coming to Colwyn Bay."

The following evening, Rothnie will welcome back North Wales comedy legend Tudur Owen another top night of guaranteed laughs

Tudur, who is no doubt familiar from S4C and constant touring across the coast, last appeared at the Stand-up at the Seaside in the summer, where he brought a sneak peak of his Edinburgh festival show about turning 50, Normal Wear and Tear, to the stage.

The Anglesey comic plans to return to Edinburgh with a brand new show, Undemanding, this year, which sets the the shifting goalposts of productivity in his crosshairs, promising a typically wry riposte to the demands of modern life.

Owen said: "Basically, it's a show about under-achievement, and how that's OK. It's something we're good at in North Wales."

For anyone with an ear and a penchant for great stand-up, there really is no excuse other than to make a beeline for the Bay this weekend.
