Having been the resident artist of Colchester Zoo since 2008, Tiptree artist Alison Burchert knows a few things when it comes down to drawing animals.
Her new exhibition entitled Wildlife in Pastels is being displayed in Witham Art and Framing, on Newland Street, until Saturday.
Mrs Burchert has been developing her own unique approach to pastel painting for the past 30 years.
Without using any greys, greens or browns, she mixes some rather unusual colours to get her desired tones.
"I use the same colours you would put in your printer," she says.
"If our printers can produce amazing images using just a few colours, then so can we.”
