Chance to meet popular authors

ACCLAIMED author Ronald Blythe will be giving a talk and signing copies of his new book at Red Lion Books in Colchester tomorrow.

The writer is best known for his Word From Wormingford articles in the Church Times and in, particular, his book Akenfield, which deals with rural village life.

His latest book is entitled the Bookman’s Tale and follows Mr Blythe as he travels through the lanes of Constable Country in places such as Dedham and East Bergholt, observing the seasonal changes of rural life.

The new book also reflects on some of the great writers, such as John Clare, who have influenced his career and celebrates the simple pleasure he gets out of tending his Wormingford garden.

Mr Blythe’s talk starts at the High Street shop at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 and are available from Red Lion Books on 01206 578584.

Another literary event taking place the same day will see former Yorkshire bobby and star of BBC 2’s Country Cops, Mike Pannett, at the Waterstone’s in High Street, Colchester.

Mike’s first book, Now Then Lad, was a huge Yorkshire bestseller and his new book is destined to do even better. Mike is best known as the police officer whose beat was 600 square miles of North Yorkshire. However, he’s now traded that all in for a literary career.

He will be at the bookshop from 12.30pm to 1.30pm signing copies of You’re Coming with me Lad.

For more information, or to reserve a copy of the new book, call the store on 01206 561307.
