Almost £1 million will be spent on improvements to a primary school.

The scheme for Gosfield Community Primary School includes an extension to provide two new classrooms for 150 pupils, a new hall, together with the remodelling of the existing hall.

An extension will create a room and staff room.

The staffroom will be funded by the school.

Work will be financed from a funding provision already approved within Essex County Council's capital programme.

The project will cost about £980,500.

Work should start in July 2008.

The project should be completed in April 2008.

This project is the latest in the council's ongoing series of schemes to replace temporary with permanent accommodation.
