Belles of the ball: Hedingham ladies lap up the sun- and admiration

Belles and beaus of the ball wowed crowds and got the red-carpet treatment at their school prom.

Tractors, motorbikes and Limousines were among the range of vehicles pulling up at The Essex Golf and Country Club for Hedingham School's year 11 prom.

Assistant headteacher Julie Bartrop said the atmosphere was amazing as parents, grandparents and friends gathered at the Earls Colne venue for the big night on Monday(12/5).

The function room's large balcony was welcome in the evening sun, but the year 11s spent most of the night on the dance floor, Miss Bartrop said.

She said: "They got the red carpet and between 150 and 200 family members watched as everybody was arriving. There were grannies and grandads, aunties, uncles, cousins, some current pupils and some sixth formers come to reminisce. We had the usual Limousines and Hummers, classic cars, two Ferrarris and three or four arrived on sports motorbikes."
