The September meeting was opened by president Eileen Leslie and members and guests enjoyed a “bring a plate and friend” lunch.
Two men were among the guests and they all enjoyed a variety of pasta, flans and savouries, followed by Eileen's raspberry pavlova and all types of puddings.
Doreen and Ken Wisby showed slides of their holiday in Las Vegas and pictures of their Grand Canyon trip, bringing their talk to a close with slides of the past village church flower festivals, in which some of past members and villagers had been involved.
Congratulations to Kathy and Mike Rayner on their golden wedding. A cake was cut and served with tea.
The bring-and-buy stall was manned by Shirley Hutchins and there was a raffle.
This month’s competition, something from the garden beginning with M, was won by Jean Hastings, with Sylvia May second and Betty Scott third. Boxes of winter pansies were presented to four members with birthdays this month.
The next meeting is on October 9, in the village hall at 2.30pm.
