YOUNGSTERS at a village primary school have helped design the school’s new outdoor play area.
Staff and pupils at Steeple Bumpstead Primary, in Bower Hall Drive, have unveiled a new on-site green space after opening the garden on April 22.
The space, which is suitable for its reception pupils, has a mud kitchen, ramp, bridge, tunnel and more.
Headteacher Luke Howden said the area needed a facelift and was proud of the pupils for helping come up with ideas.
He said: “Our early years curriculum is all about exploration, imagination and learning through experience.
“We are delighted to have this outdoor area officially opened and we would like to thank Unity Schools Partnership who funded the work.”
Rachel Warr, the early years foundation stage leader at the school, is thrilled with the space.
She said: “This learning environment has been a dream for such a long time that it’s hard to believe it has finally come into being.
“Our new learning environment is engaging, enabling, stimulating and challenging.
“There are opportunities for turn-taking, risk-taking, communication and resilience, and plenty of scope for investigation and enquiry.”
